This piece was created to serve as a visual character representation of Sandor Clegane and Sansa Stark as they are described and depicted within both the aSoIaF novels by George R. R. Martin and my own WIP aSoIaF/GoT SanSan FanFic story.

The Battle of the Blackwater Bay is here and Sansa Stark knows this is the best time she can think of to escape the Lion's Den. With help from her sassy handmaiden, Shae, and the only decent Lannister, Tyrion, Sansa has been preparing to fly from her gilded cage for over three moons. When she returns to her chamber the night of the battle only to find a broken Hound, though, she cannot bear to leave him behind. She asks him to come with her... will he say yes?

Please be advised that the FanFic is rated E (Explicit) for adult themes and content, major and minor character deaths, consensual underage sex (underage by modern societal standards, not by historical/medieval standards), graphic depictions of violence (including attempted rape/sexual assault and medieval battle and war scenes), and explicit language. Please be either over 18 years old or comfortable with adult content should you view or read my fic, thank you.

Why is Sansa Stark wearing Clegane colors, you may be asking yourselves—read the story if you want to know why. It's still a WIP, but this artwork represents the FanFic's endgame.

Some people may think that Sandor is too handsome here. However, please keep in mind, before possibly commenting on his looks, that the way he is depicted here is how he is seen through the eyes of an older, much more mature Sansa Stark, who is madly in love with the big brute! 

My visual portrayals of Sandor and Sansa here are book canon in regards to appearances; especially Sandor Clegane! These are not the Game of Throne's actor portrayals of Rory McCann's Hound and Sophie Turner's Sansa. 

You may note that, in this artwork, Sandor does not have a beard!

Sandor "The Hound" Clegane, as described in the original aSoIaF novels, does not have a beard! This is due to his burn scars covering the entire left-hand side of his face/neck: all the way from the middle of his scalp clear down to covering most of his left shoulder. Considering he always tries covering his scars with his thin black hair in the books, there is no way in the Seven buggering Hells he would want a beard as it would only be half of a beard!

You may also note Sandor's infamous black hair and grey eyes, as well as his large hooked nose, high cheekbones, slight gaunt face, the small gap in the left side of his lips, and the small patch of bone that is said to show on his left jawline.



I worked tirelessly to try and make both characters match their FanFic and book canon descriptions so I hope you guys like.

Other details such as Sandor's burn scars, Sansa's necklace, and make-up were meticulously painted by me using my Wacom Intuos Pro and Adobe Photoshop CC on my iMac. References for the scars came from various sources; a huge majority being actual burn victims.
